| The Rose Fire Company #1 is pleased to be able to donate 1300 feet of Large Diameter Hose to the Queen City Community Fire Department located in Queen City, Missouri. We recently purchase 1500 feet of LDH with locking couplings and no longer had a use for the old LDH that had served our company for over 25 years. Our department had several offers for the old hose but decided at a company meeting to donate the hose to a company that was unable to afford new LDH. Asst. Chief Carl Snider of the Queen City Community Fire Department contacted us several months ago when we posted our hose for sale, and once it was decided to donate the hose to his department we agreed to hold on to the hose until he could get to PA.
Wednesday March 11th at 0930 hrs, Asst. Chief Snider pulled into our station with a 1980 CF Mack Pumper that he picked up from Phoenixville, PA outside Philadelphia. While en route to New Freedom, Chief Snider stopped at several other fire departments and received numerous unwanted FD appliances and equipment that his department can put to use. When he arrived, the 1980 CF Mack was full, but with some reconfiguration we were able to fit all 1300 feet of hose on the pumper. Chief Snider had one additional stop for equipment on his way back to Missouri.
Chief Snider made contact with us on Thursday, March 12th around 1200hrs, to let us know that he and the Mack drove straight through to Missouri and made it home with little trouble. The Rose Fire Co. #1 hopes that the hose will serve the needs of the Queen City Community Fire Department and enjoyed spending the short amount of time that we had with their Asst. Chief, Carl Snider. |
