At around 2111 hours, Station 58 was alerted for a reported structure fire on North Shaffer Drive in New Freedom Borough. Shortly after dispatch, Engine 58-1 went responding with a crew of four. While enroute, Engine 58-1 tagged a hydrant at North Shaffer Drive and Meadow Street and laid a line to the reported fire. Engine 58-1 was the first to arrive and advised incoming units of a working chimney fire. Chief 58(Holloway) took command and advised Truck 58 to ladder the roof. Engine 58-2 arrived on scene and assisted Engine 58-1 in working the interior. All arriving crews were advised to stage. The fire was quickly contained and crews began searching the structure for extension and heat in the walls. Nothing was found and Deputy Chief 58(Woods) advised it was safe for the family to return to the structure. Command placed the fire out at 2200 hours and placed the box available shortly after.
