This morning, Station 58 members gave a Fire Prevention lesson to students from the Sunny Days Preschool based out of the St. John Lutheran Church in New Freedom. The paid EMS crew began the lesson by showing the children around the EMS portion of the building and giving them a tour of the ambulances. Following that, the students were given a basic fire safety lesson, including the importance of smoke detectors and how to Stop, Drop, and Roll. Other members continued the tour by showing the children the different features of the ladder truck and engines. The students especially enjoyed seeing the firefighters demonstrate how to use the hose off the engine and then experience for themselves what it was like. Through the help of the station members, the students were able to learn more about the equipment protecting them and how they can help prevent fires themselves, which is especially important, as October is Fire Safety Month
