January 15, 2013

At 0100 hours Station 61, 58, 450 and 54 were disptached for report of a structure fire on Whitcraft Road in box 61-22. Truck 58 (Capt. Shearer) went en route with 4 and Engine 58-1 (Asst. Chief Holloway). Truck 58 was first arriving with a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing and one occupant on the roof trying to escape the fire. One occupant already jumped to safety. Truck 58 advised coming in Engines to lay a line down the driveway. Truck 58 crew split. One crew assisted the victim by throwing ground ladders, as the other crew went interior. Truck 58 driver put the aerial in service. Fire was found in a bedroom on the C/D corner of the home. Engine 61-1 arrived and Chief Myers took command as their crew along with Engine 58-1 stretched the attack line. Attack line crew met up with the crew from Truck 58 on the interior. Fire was quickly knocked and crews from 450/54 arrived and assisted in opening up and checking for extension. Command was advised fire under control and the box was scaled down. The box was placed in service around 0300 hours. Great teamwork to all units on scene.
