By Lieutenant Kris Shearer
February 19, 2011

At 10:34 Hours Station 58 was alerted for a working house fire in BCoFD Box area 60-9. Truck 58(Deputy Wilhelm) and Engine 58-1(FF Holloway) responded with a total of 9 personnel. Units arrived on scene and went to work with the truck crew splitting up and throwing ladders to the roof and venting. While the other truck crew followed the initial attack lines in and started hooking ceilings and extinguishing parts of the fire. Engine 58-1 crew had an attack line operating inside as well. Crews were pulled out of the residence due to a weakened structure. Crews then assisted with various operations on the fire ground to help extinguish the fire. Due to heavy call volume in the southern end of York County and enough personnel on the fire ground command released 58, 61 and 59 units to return to their stations at 13:44 Hours.

With crews just finishing cleaning up from the previous fire box at 15:59 Stations 58 and 61 were alerted for a woods fire in BCoFD Box 60-12. Engine 58-1 and Car 58 responded with 7 personnel. When arriving on scene Engine 58-1 was ordered to the back of the residence to supply Harford County Engine-711 who was supplying brush trucks on that end of the fire. The 58 crew went to work in the woods until 58 and 61's crews met up, and used lines off Brush 61 to help knock the fire. At 18:22 Hours crews on that side of the woods fire were released and returned home.
