Station 58 was dispatched to Freedom Avenue in New Freedom Borough for reported smoke in a structure. Engine 58-1 responded shortly after with a crew already working fire company bingo. Engine 58-1 arrived and Captain David Dickmyer advised nothing evident from exterior. With investigation, crews found light smoke inside that was starting to bank down. Crews from E-58-1 an Truck 58 went to the roof to check for a possible chimney fire as EMS assisted one patient out of the home. Roof crews advised minimal heat and smoke and awaited interior response. Interior crews advised fire was contained to the fireplace, but the flu was completely shut. As interior crews worked to open the flu, incoming units were ordered to stage on Freedom Ave and Engine 61-1 stood by at the hydrant. Interior advised command that the flu had been opened, and roof crews advised smoke and heat were now evident in the chimney. A Positive Pressure Ventilation fan was set up to disperse the leftover smoke. Crews checked for extension and found nothing, box was then placed available.
