| It is with deep regret that the Rose Fire Company #1 announces the passing of Chaplain Wilber L. Fry, Sr. Wilber was a "Life Member" of the Rose Fire Company with 67 years of service, and has served as the Company Chaplain for the past 26 years. He went to be with the Lord at approximately 0430 hours on Sunday, August 9, 2009. Wilber was 89 years old.
Wilber brought great pride to the New Freedom community that he and his wife Mae were so devoted to. On July 4, 2009, New Freedom Borough honored Wilber's lifelong dedication to the community with the renaming of Centennial Avenue to Wilber Fry Avenue. Wilber's house, which he and Mae built in 1942, is located at the corner of North 3rd Street and Wilber Fry Avenue.
The members of the Rose Fire Company #1 are honored to have known Wilber and been a part of his long life. His humor and grace were just two of the amazing qualities that Wilber shared with those he met. He will be deeply missed and forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Funeral arrangements for Wilber Fry, Sr. are still pending. |
