| Engine 58-1, Engine 58-2, and Utility 58 responded promptly. Upon arrival, units encountered an area approximately 60’ x 30’ actively burning. As crews deployed attack lines and initiated operations, a live high-voltage line was discovered down in the woods, posing a significant threat to personnel on scene. Fortunately, the high-voltage line was spotted in the tall grass and brush, and all personnel were alerted, prompting an immediate halt to operations. Met-Ed was notified and arrived within 20 minutes to de-energize the line, allowing for safe continuation of fire suppression efforts. Glen Rock (Brush 59) was requested to the scene as a precautionary measure in case the fire spread to areas inaccessible to our engines. Thankfully, the fire was successfully contained to the edge of the field and wood line. Crews remained on scene for an hour and cleared. |
