At 1003 hours Station 58 was dispatched mutual aid to box 61-08 for report of an appliance fire. Truck 58 arrived and report normal conditions from a two story single family home. Crews made entry side A and found smoke condition coming from the interior basement steps and a 360 was complete and found smoke coming from side C basement window. Engine 61 arrived and advanced a handline down the interior steps with Truck 58. Fire was quickly extinguished. Engine 58-1 operated on division 1 checking for extension and assisted in laddering the home. Great job to all crews on scene.

This Facebook post from Firefighter Tim Kemp really sums it up!

"Another example of why nothing evident means nothing. Always stretch hose and always lay out! Truck 58 first arriving for a reported fire in the 61 local. Arrived with nothing evident and found fire in the basement"
