Today at 0923 hours Station 58 was alerted to 200 block of E Main Street in New Freedom for a hazmat incident by SRPD. Chief 58 responded and requested the Hazmat Duty Officer while the Hazmat Team was placed on stand by. Crews found an unknown substance that was dumped in a storm drain and traveled the pipe, then came out a spill way and covered several properties. Engine 58-1 contained the spill to the area. DEP was enroute to the scene for clean up. No other fire department services needed. Units cleared the scene at 1117 hours.
