Shortly after 17:00hrs, Station 58 was dispatched to the unit block of Springwood Road for the reported kitchen fire. Engine 58-1 (FF. Womack) had just returned to quarters from the Hazmat incident in Shrewsbury and responded immediately. They arrived on-scene reporting a two-story apartment complex with normal conditions. Deputy Chief Shearer arrived and established the Command. The Engine crew found an appliance fire on the second floor extinguished prior to fire department arrival. They secured the appliance and checked the building for fire extension. Tower 58 had just cleared the Hazmat incident and responded to assist with ventilation.
