Vehicle Accident with Confinement

Shortly after 06:00 Hours, Station 58 was dispatched to Codorus Township for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Steltz Road in the area of Hildabrand Road. York County 911 quickly upgraded the call to a rescue with entrapment.

Truck 58, Engine 58-1, MICU 58 and MICU 7 (Lineboro) responded. MICU 58 was first to arrive and begin patient care, advising 2 vehicles blocking with 1 patient confined.

Truck 58 stabilized the vehicle in question and began extrication using the Hurst "Jaws of Life" hydraulic rescue tools. MICU 7 began care of the driver of the second vehicle while Engine 58-1 stood by with a protective hose line in case it was needed. Command 58 (Lt. Stoudt) reported patient extrication complete ten minutes after arrival.

Patients were turned over to EMS for transport. Pennsylvania State Police and Smith Brother's Towing took care of the vehicles. Units cleared the scene shortly after 07:30 Hours.
