Shortly after 21:00 hours, Station 58 was alerted for mutual aid to Baltimore County in the 21000 block of Millers Mill Road for a chimney fire. Members were still at the firehouse finishing up a drill on RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) operations. Engine 58-2 (A/C Holloway) and Truck 58 (D/C Wilhelm) responded within minutes with 8 personnel.
The Engine and Truck arrived to find a single-story/single-family dwelling with smoke showing. Upon entry to the structure and a 360 degree size up, crews found a chimney fire with extension into the walls. Asst. Chief Holloway established the Command while the Engine crew stretched an attack line and the Truck crew went to work opening up the walls. Crews made quick work of the fire and successfully knocked it before the fire was able to make it into the attic space.
Baltimore County Engine 451 arrived and Chief 45 (Wilhelm) assumed Command. Crews from York County Stations 58 and 61, Baltimore County Stations 45 and 60 remained for overhaul and mop-up. Crews operated for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.
